Michala's bowled over
Adelaide Now, 3 January 2007

SHE may be a Kiwi, but Michala Banas, right, is becoming quite the Aussie cricket nut.

The McLeod's Daughters star was in Sydney yesterday at the final Test match - as a guest of Cricket Australia, if you don't mind.

"It was such a special occasion with the retirement of Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Justin Langer - I just had to be here," she says.

While she might like Aussie cricket, we've got a fair bit of work to do to convert her to the Wallabies.

"I support the Aussies in every sport, bar Rugby - love those All Blacks," she laughs. She already rubbed shoulders with Matthew Hayden and Damien Martyn at the Adelaide Test match in December and yesterday she was seated near legend Steve Waugh and cricket-tragic PM John Howard.

Michala is on holidays from filming the Channel 9 hit drama.

She had a quiet New Year's Eve in Sydney, watching the fireworks from a friend's house and is now heading off to New Zealand to see her mum Laurinda for a belated Christmas. But rest assured she'll be back in Adelaide for the one-dayer between Australia and England on Australia Day.
